Wilson's Plover

With it’s statuesque posture the Wilson’s Plover is definitely my favourite North American plover.

A sturdy, medium-sized shorebird with a heavy bill for a plover. It has fairly long legs, large eyes, and a rather large head.

Wilson’s Plovers hunt mainly fiddler crabs both day and night. They watch for prey and then running after them and lunge, extracting the prey with the strong bill. They often shake crabs to remove the legs. Cornell All About Birds
