Lion

 

One of our first lion sightings provided us with the opportunity to watch and listen to this lion as it followed us along this cart path. Incredible to just listen to it’s low rumbling growl as it searched out food. 

The Lion is a large cat of the genus Panthera native to Africa and India. It has a muscular, deep-chested body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail.

We were amazed at the size of the paws and how graceful it moved along.

The Lion’s range use to include Africa, Southeast Europe, and Western and Southern Asia. However, it has now been reduced to fragmented populations in sub-Saharan Africa and Western India.
